Scientist - Pluripotent Stem Cells-0000012Y

Creates ideas for novel products with an immediate focus on neural cell types derived from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
•Independently designs research projects, prepares project outlines, and tracks project progress toward milestones and deadlines.
•Carries out experiments, either independently or as part of a matrix team, performs data analysis, and develops concise summaries with conclusions and recommendations.
•Trains and mentors Research Associates with the objective to achieve project goals according to timelines and product specifications.
•Constantly expands skill set and enhances knowledge related to human pluripotent stem cells by keeping up with the literature, interacting with fellow scientists, and attending scientific conferences.
•Establishes an excellent working relationship and open communication with colleagues across departments such as R&D, Legal, Business Development, and Marketing.
•Presents project progress at group and department meetings. Prepares and delivers presentations at national and international scientific conferences.

•Strong desire in developing novel products around hESC/iPSC-derived neural cells.
•Ph.D. in a life science discipline with substantial hands-on experience with hESCs/iPSCs as well as neural cells.
•Proficient in growing and expanding pluripotent stem cells in an undifferentiated state using feeder-dependent and independent culture techniques.
•Expertise in generating iPSCs from different tissues sources with “zero-footprint” technologies is desired.
•Broad cell biology laboratory skill set, including flow cytometry, real-time PCR, and immunofluorescence staining.
•Must be able to independently develop and assess new ideas, design project plans, and execute projects as part of a matrix team.
•Comfortable with working on weekends and holidays when necessary.
•Previous supervisory experience with strong team leadership is a plus.
